We have ongoing opportunities and are looking for enthusiastic and reliable volunteers to help across the charity.  There is flexibility with working hours and days, however consistent commitment is required.  Out of pocket expenses will be paid.

Minibus Driving

Some of the tasks will include:

  • Driving pupils and clients to and from Jigsaw in order to help them participate in activities off-site.
  • Completing pre-driving safety checklist. e.g. unlock doors / defrost car / check fuel levels.
  • Ensuring all passengers are safely seated, wearing seat-belts and if driving passengers in a wheelchair, check the chair is secure before starting engine.
  • Using necessary apparatus when performing minibus driving duties. e.g. set blue badge in car, park in designated bays, use hazard warning signs.
  • Dropping pupils and clients where instructed to by the Group Leader.
  • Following necessary driving procedures.

Gardening Volunteering

This volunteer role will involve working at our social enterprise project with clients from Jigsaw Plus at our site in Guildford on Wednesday afternoons.

Some of the tasks will include:

  • Planting and pruning.
  • Supporting clients to grow their own vegetables.
  • Maintaining and preserving the garden at our Guildford site.

Library Volunteering

To support the school with the general upkeep and tidiness of the library and support literacy development across the school by running ‘story time’ activities and preparing resources for ‘story sacks’.

Some of the tasks will include:

  • Keeping books, CD’s, DVD’s organised.
  • Repairing damaged books.
  • Running short story time activities.
  • Preparing resources for ‘story sacks’.
  • Cataloguing books and keeping the register up to date.
  • Rotating books in classrooms.
  • Supporting access to curriculum by preparing displays and collating books on given topics.
  • Assisting with auditing reading books and managing the signing in and out of books.

Resource Management Volunteering

To support the school by keeping general school areas and specialist classrooms and resources tidy and organised, and assist with the management of curriculum store room and resources.

Some of the tasks will include:

  • Keeping PE hall, art room, food technology room tidy and organised.
  • Assisting with keeping the playgrounds and playground equipment tidy and organised.
  • Rotating toys, leisure equipment in classrooms and playgrounds.
  • Managing resources in the curriculum store room.
  • Completing audit of curriculum resources and keep register up to date.
  • Supporting curriculum delivery by preparing topic boxes.

Therapy Volunteers

To support the Therapy Department with the general resourcing, administration, tidiness and stocking of therapy equipment, supporting/running therapy sessions to support the department with providing therapy to school pupils.

Some of the tasks will include:

  • Creating resources (including laminating, photocopying, making).
  • Tidying, organising and sterilising equipment.
  • Resourcing for groups e.g. Lego Therapy packs, PECS icons, relaxation equipment.
  • Stock checking equipment, managing/auditing resources.
  • Filing of assessments and case notes.
  • Preparing and maintaining displays.
  • Supporting group/individual sessions.

Office Administration Volunteers

Some of the tasks will include:

  • Dealing with all incoming telephone calls and queries in a polite and timely manner.
  • Welcoming and ensuring visitors sign in.
  • Maintaining data lists as required.
  • Inputing data onto data management system (training will be provided).
  • Maintaining records and hard files, ensuring filing systems are up-to-date.
  • Assisting in the co-ordination and updating of client information in a timely manner.
  • Working on allocated projects and reports.
